Good Morning! Buen Dia!
Today I am reaching out to you to let you know we are supporting our local neighbors in Union Capiri, build an animal
sanctuary. Union Capiri, is the hub of the Ashanika nation in the central jungle. It is sandwiched by the andes, and
therefore is a mountainous region of the jungle. With the differing altitudes it provides a wide range of species to
maintain its homeostasis. My neighbors Luis and Katy and there children are building the animal sanctuary on 3 Hectares
(7.4 acres) of land in the Rio Negro District of Junin. They are working in relation with "Asociacion de empesario
ecoturisticos de chanchamayo- ASEMECH" in this project as the association has another animal sanctuary in another
section of the jungle.
With Peru's extensive biodiversity, Peru is home to many exotic animals and insects. Peru is one of South America's
richest and most evocative countries, with many ancient cultures and ecology in ways we can barely understand. However,
due to human interference with Mono-agriculture for exportation, and mining for precious resources, and hunting for food
or out of fear from lack of knowledge about different species; this had led to the unfortunate extinction of many animals,
with many more under threat.
If you take the time to research the species under threat, you will see that many monkey and otter species are on the
list as well as cats and birds. However, there is a great lack in the information surrounding the reptiles and insects
that are endangered in critical condition. If we do not help, then we are at a greater risk of losing the forests
completely.

My son, since he could speak would share his destiny with me in having a reptile sanctuary. Now by supporting my neighbors Luis and Katy and their
children build this animal sanctuary I can support him in following his dream from a young age. They are currently starting the construction of the
sanctuary and are looking for animal lovers and animal activists to help them with the building. They are also looking for herptologists and other
caretakes that can help educate the locals in preservation and the importance of keeping these creatures.
If you are interested please let me know!
Warmly,
Mama Jungles
